Adiantum aleuticum

Western Maidenhair Fern

Although the western maidenhair has traditionally been considered a variant of Adiantum pedatum, the two are more appropriately considered separate species but the differences are subtle. Elegant, graceful and delicate, this beauty . Does not like areas with hot humid summers. Other common names include serpentine maidenhair, Aleutian maidenhair, and five-fingered fern.

Adiantum venustum

Himalayan Maidenhair Fern

Elegant, graceful and delicate. Among my most favorite of ferns, this hardy maidenhair is semi-evergreen and must be trimmed back in early spring to let the new growth through. New fronds emerge bright bronze-pink in Spring and mature to a bluish-green by the chills of autumn. Does not like areas with hot humid summers.

Maidenhair Fern, Rosy

A charming, graceful, colorful, little fern. Like a small Five Finger Maidenhair, but with colorful new growth. Beautiful in rock gardens, table-top gardens and woodland settings. Lacy fronds are bronze or deep pink to red when young. Complements large-leaved perennials as well as spring-flowering bulbs and other ferns. It is considered hardy along the Gulf Coast as far north as Dallas, California coastal areas and the Atlantic coast as far north as Charleston.
