This hardy orchid from the Sichuan province of China has beautiful star shaped yellow flowers with a purple speckled lip. 3 to 10 amazing orchid blooms will sit atop a 20 inch flower stalk. Green, pleated, iris-like leaves are a bit thinner, and 'Chinese Butterfly' blooms a few weeks later than other varieties but a 2 month bloom time makes Bletilla ochracea 'Chinese Butterfly' a must-have. They spread rapidly under good conditions and grow with abandon from seed, with those seedlings blooming 2-3 years later. 'Chinese Butterfly' is a particularly vigorous seed strain. More cold hardy by a zone than the B. ochracea species. A wonderful plant at a wonderful price!
