Hepatica are one of the most reliable, durable and charming of the early Spring native wildflowers. Fabulous white, pink or blue starry flowers with all shades in between last for months at a time when little else is blooming, later giving way to beautiful foliage that is persistent and attractive all the growing season long. In autumn, the leaves turn shades of russet and purple to persist through winter. They're exceptionally long flowering, long lived and very easy to grow. A mature clump can be a foot across with more than 50 flowers. They're native to almost every state east of the Mississippi and their hardiness and heat tolerance is extremely wide, zones 4 - 10!
