 This variety, introduced by the Huntington Botanic Garden, blooms in the fall and winter, which makes it a rather unique Kniphofia. The stocky clusters of tubular flowers are a reddish-orange color. It grows to 3 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide and is hardy to below 15 degrees F.

Kniphofia uvaria 'Early Hybrids'

 The name says it, very early bloomer of glowing red-hot fire pokers. The flower scapes are red at the tips, orange in the middle, and pale yellow at the bottom. They are absolutely striking in the garden and make an outstanding focal point when in bloom from early to late summer. Deadheading will prolong the blooming period. After the plant is finished flowering, the sword-shaped leaves should be cut back by half to stimulate fresh new leaf growth. Great border plant and an excellent cut flower.
