Forget-Me-Not Victoria Blue Forget-Me-Not |
 |
SEEDS - Botanical Interests - Perennial / Biennial. Blooms early spring. 6'' mound. Shade. Petite blue star-shaped flowers. Victoria Blue is a superior strain of this classic, because of its compact mounding habit. Perfect companion for spring blooming bulbs, especially under trees, as it will bloom in the shade. An early bloomer, it performs well in woodland settings, provides a splash of color in rock gardens, and does well in moist shady areas. Forget-Me-Nots symbolize friendship, fidelity, and remembrance. The alpine version is the State flower of Alaska. Judith Seaborn, co-founder of Botanical Interests, says, ''I fell in love with this mounding variety after seeing it planted as an under-crop for red tulips encircled with daffodils at the Bouchart Gardens in Canada.'' When to plant outside: Seed directly outside either 1) late summer or early fall for early spring bloom (preferable) or 2) early spring for spring bloom. When to start inside: 4-6 weeks before planting outdoors. Harden off seedlings before planting outside in early spring. Special Germination Instructions: Requires darkness to germinate. Sow seed 1/4''deep. Bot: Myosotis sylvatica
